A founding member of The Acceleration Group, and Charter member for Texas, Calvin W. Carter is President and CEO of The Carter Group. The Carter Group is a privately owned business venture development company.
Mr. Carter has recently completed several successful speculative residential real estate projects including single-family home renovations; spec home building in Preston Hollow, Preston Royal and University Park; high-rise condominiums; and infill land aggregation including a 12-acre residential development in central Dallas.
Mr. Carter co-founded BigShield, a technology-focused membership services company helping consumers, employees and employers fight identity theft.
Mr. Carter is an investor, co-launched and currently serves in an advisory role as Vice President of Marketing for PeopleAnswers, a technology-focused pre-employment psychological assessment service provider.
Mr. Carter founded The Carter Group Internet Strategies which helps companies develop high-level business strategies for online sales and marketing initiatives.
Mr. Carter is an early investor, co-founder and former Chairman of Insite Interactive, an Internet marketing and development firm.
Mr. Carter is currently building a new business connecting US companies to the Middle-Eastern market of the UAE via Dubai.
Mr. Carter also serves as part-time Vice President of Carter Insurance Group, a family-owned insurance program administrator founded in 1926 providing commercial lines property and casualty programs to franchised auto dealers and after market auto service centers.
Mr. Carter's first business started in 1994. Mr. Carter co-founded i.con interactive, an Internet software development and professional services company. i.con produced high-end creative and technical development projects for companies such as EDS, Dallas Stars, and Cellular One. i.con received the Fast Tech 50, Texas Top 100 and PaceSetters awards recognizing several consecutive years of rapid, healthy growth. In 1999, Mr. Carter was part of a merger with his and seven other regional Internet professional services firms to form a single, publicly-owned national firm employing over 1,000 professionals with more than $160 million in professional services revenue.
Mr. Carter holds a BA in Accounting and BA in Organizational Behavior and Business Policy degrees from Southern Methodist University and is a graduate of the Stagen Transformational Leadership Program.
Mr. Carter has served on numerous corporate advisory boards including Luminant Worldwide, InSite Interactive, PeopleAnswers, Bright Corner, One Technologies, NTG, New City Renewal, YEO/Edison Innovation Board and Carter Insurance Group. Mr. Carter was a founding company member of the Dallas Internet Society and key practice leader of Luminant Worldwide. Mr. Carter is a member of the Dallas Round Table and just completed his presidency of the Dallas chapter of Entrepreneurs Organization (formerly known as YEO), an international membership organization of more than 5,500 business owners worldwide employing over 667,000 people and representing more than $68 billion in annual revenue. He now volunteers his time serving as Area Director for EO.
